Eliot focuses on the weapons used in the conflict in Syria, and open source investigation tools and techniques.

| Journalist | Liz Wahl is an American journalist based in Washington, D.C. From 2011 to 2014, she was a correspondent and anchor for the U.S. branch of RT TV and made international headlines following her resignation from the channel, publicly denouncing its distorted coverage of the conflict in Ukraine and Russian intervention in Crimea. Wahl has spoken internationally about modern day propaganda tactics, media literacy and disinformation in the digital age.

She also worked as a journalist for local media outlets in Latvia. Her education in Communication science and Political science combined with her knowledge about information technologies and data analysis helps her to provide deeper insights into relevant affairs in the digital engagement spaces.

| Digital Forensic Research Associate @DFRLab | As a research associate at the DFRLab, Andriukaitis researches Russian disinformation in Syria, as well as the conflicts in Syria and Donbas. Additionally, he is an associate analyst at the Vilnius Institute for Policy Analysis (VIPA). He has worked as the deputy head of the Strategic Planning Branch in the Lithuanian State Railway Inspectorate, and served in the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces Special Purpose Service as a support officer.

| Digital Forensic Research Associate @DFRLab | As an Assistant Director for Research and Development, Barojan is based at the NATO StratCom Center of Excellence in Riga, Latvia. At the DFRLab, Donara analyses online disinformation campaigns in the US and Europe with a special focus on disinformation targeting elections. Barojan also leads DFRLab’s efforts to develop tools to monitor and counter disinformation online. Her work has been featured in several globally-renowned media outlets.

| Lead Digital Forensic Researcher @DFRLab & Investigator at Bellingcat | Aric Toler is the lead researcher for the Eurasia Digital Research Unit at the DFRLab, and also heads up Eastern Europe/Eurasia research for Bellingcat. His research focuses on Russia and Ukraine, and he organizes and leads Russian-language training workshops in a number of post-Soviet countries for Russian-speaking journalists.

| Manager, Amnesty International Digital Verification Corps | Sam Dubberley is manager of the Digital Verification Corps at Amnesty International, using open source research to verify evidence of human rights abuses around the world. He's a research consultant at the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex. He's a fellow of the Tow Centre for Digital Journalism at Columbia University. Formerly, he ran the newsroom at the European Broadcasting Union.

| Executive Director of the Human Rights Center, Berkeley University | Koenig, Ph.D., J.D, is the Executive Director of the Human Rights Center and a lecturer at UC Berkeley's School of Law. In 2016, she co-founded the first university-based open source investigations lab to train students to discover and verify human rights violations and potential war crimes. Her most recent book is Using Open Source Intelligence for Human Rights Reporting and Accountability (forthcoming 2019).

| Bellingcat Investigative Team | Nick is an ex-British Army officer and open source analyst. He has a special interest in the conflicts in Syria, as well as social media, civil society, intelligence and security.

| Founder and Director, Syrian Archive | Hadi works to collect, verify, and investigate citizen-generated data as evidence of human rights violations to expose and draw attention to human rights violations committed in the Syrian conflict, and to make sure that journalists are able to use verified data for their investigations. Hadi is a part-time project leader for Middle East and North Africa investigations with Bellingcat. He is a fellow at the Centre for Internet and Human Rights.

| Director, MayDay Rescue | Emma Winberg is an Executive Director of Mayday Rescue Foundation. A graduate of the Stockholm School of Economics, she began her career in finance before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. As a British Diplomat, she served in Damascus, Jerusalem, Istanbul and London. After leaving the Foreign Office Emma co-founded a communications consulting firm and has focused on countering disinformation and information influence operations.

| Deputy Director, Digital Forensics | Christina Varvia is an architect, researcher, and the Deputy Director of Forensic Architecture. She has graduated from the AA School of Architecture with a previous degree from Westminster University. Her previous research includes studies on digital media and memory as well as the perception of the physical environment through scanning and imaging technologies, research that she deploys through time-based media.

| Photojournalist, National Geographic | Andrea Bruce is an award-winning documentary photographer whose work focuses on people living in the aftermath of war. Her clients include National Geographic and The New York Times as well as many publications around the globe. Andrea studied political theory and democracy as a 2016 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. She has worked as a staff photographer for The Washington Post and as part of the VII Network. She is now a member/owner of NOOR.

| Former United States Secretary of State | Madeleine Albright served as the US Secretary of State under the second Clinton administration from 1997 until 2001. Prior to this, she served in the US National Security Council and as the US Ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 until 1997. She also was a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and a professor at Georgetown University. She currently chairs the Albright Stonebridge Group.

| Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate, US Department of Homeland Security | Chris Krebs is the Undersecretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he oversees the cyber and physical infrastructure security mission for the Department. Krebs leads NPPD’s mission on issues such as preventing complex mass attacks, and other areas related to cyber and physical infrastructure resilience.

| Director, NATO StratCom Center of Excellence | Janis Sarts is a Director of the NATO StratCom COE, a multinational, cross-sector organisation providing analysis, advice and support in strategic communications to the Alliance and the allied nations. Prior to that, he was the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence in Latvia and Chair of the National Cyber Security Board.

| Distinguished Fellow, The Atlantic Council | Daniel Fried is a distinguished fellow with the Atlantic Council and is the United States’ longest-serving diplomat. He has served at the State Department, White House and National Security Council. Ambassador Fried has focused on designing and implementing US policy to advance freedom and security in Central and Eastern Europe, NATO enlargement, and the Russia-NATO relationship.

| Associate Director, Eurasia Center, Atlantic Council | As the associate director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, Gonzalez oversees programming. Prior to joining the Council, Geysha worked at Freedom House in various roles related to issues of digital and physical security for human rights defenders. She has also worked for the British Parliament and on Capitol Hill. She holds a master’s degree in history of international relations from the London School of Economics.

| Former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Kingdom of Sweden | Carl Bildt served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1991 until 1994 and he had an important role in the peacemaking process in Yugoslavia. After co-chairing the Dayton Peace Conference, Bildt served as the first High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1995 to 1997, and as the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Balkans. From 2006 to 2014, he was Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.

She is a Founding Advisor to the Center for Humane Technology, and a Staff Associate at Columbia University.

Prior to Facebook, she was the Chief Digital Strategist at the National Republican Senatorial Committee. She previously led digital strategy in positions at DCI Group, the Rudy Giuliani for President campaign and the Republican National Committee. Katie holds a BA in journalism and political science.

| CEO, Rappler Media | Maria A. Ressa is the CEO and Executive Editor of Rappler, a social news network based in the Philippines. Prior to founding Rappler, Ressa was Senior Vice-President at ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ leading information and entertainment multimedia conglomerate, where she held a number of managerial and executive roles. Before joining ABS-CBN, Ressa was a CNN bureau chief in Manila and Jakarta between 1987 and 2005.

| Harvard Berkman Center for Internet and Society | Francois has held several distinguished fellowships, most recently at the Harvard Berkman Center for Internet & Society. Her research focuses on the notion of cyber peace, and the intersection of human rights, cybersecurity, and cyber operations. Francois has been a principle researcher at Jigsaw; special advisor to the CTO of France; and a lead researcher for the Mozilla Foundation and the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

| Researcher, Oxford Internet Institute | Lisa-Maria is a DPhil student at the Oxford Internet Institute and a researcher with the Computational Propaganda project, where her work is located at the nexus of political communication, technology studies, and governance. She holds an MSc in Social Science of the Internet and a BA in Communication Science. She previously studied at Georgetown University and the National University of Singapore as a Fulbright Scholar.

| Director for Cybersecurity | Neutze leads the Microsoft Cybersecurity & Democracy Team at Microsoft Corp in Redmond, WA which brings together a group of policy, legal and technical experts focused on defending democratic processes and institutions against cyber-enabled interference. In addition, Jan leads Microsoft’s efforts on protecting societies from cyber conflict, including by advancing a Digital Geneva Convention, working with governments and non-government stakeholders around the world.

| Global Head of Policy Communications, WhatsApp | Carl Woog is the Head of Communications for WhatsApp. Previously, Carl served as Director for Strategic Communications at the White House under President Barack Obama. Prior to that he was the Communications Director for U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter at the Pentagon. He has worked on international policy and communications challenges in over 50 countries.
